2562152 - Projected Stock Not Considering Dependent Demand

Symptom

You are selling the product ABC which is used as Input Product for another product too. You have a Production Order on going, hence in the Product Planning of the product ABC there is a Dependent Demand reducing the Available Stock. But the Projected Quantity in the Sales Order you are selling the product ABC is not considering this Dependent Demand.

ABC = Product ID

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Sales Order work center.
  2. Select Sales Orders view.
  3. Search for the Sales Order XXX.
  4. Open the Sales Order XXX.
  5. Select Items.
  6. Select the Line Item for product ABC.
  7. Click Replace Product.

Notice that the Projected Quantity is 100 ea, as an example

To check the Available Stock, please follow the steps:

  1. Go to Supply Planning work center.
  2. Select Products view.
  3. Search for product ABC.
  4. Click Open.

Notice that the Available Stock is 50 ea, because 50 ea is being taken as Dependent Demand. However, in the Projected Stock the system is considering the 100 ea as available.

XXX = Sales Order ID

Cause

The Projected Quantity is calculated by the Available Stock + Total Supply – Total Demand, considering the horizon set. For ATP availability, the stock is only reduced if the demand has corresponding confirmation associated with it. Dependent Demand is just a requirement without a corresponding confirmation. Therefore, 100 ea stock is still available in the Projected Quantity.

Resolution

The system is working as designed as there is no Confirmation against Dependent Demand.
