2563055 - Migration Cockpit: Source and target field length differences, source field length 80 in XML template file is bigger than target field length

Symptom

Your are using the SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit to migrate data into an SAP S/4HANA  or SAP S/4HANA Cloud systems.

You are using the approach "Migrate Data using Staging Tables"

The length of the field in the source, compare to the target structure, is different. Most fields' lengths from XML source template file are 80 while these fields are not that long in the target.

Why are sender fields defined with length 80 and not the same as the target field length?

Why is the target field length not visible in Migration Cockpit?

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
