2563763 - ASE DB auto-expansion not work when maxsize is set as 0 - SAP ASE for BS

Symptom

  • You have configured ASE DB auto-expansion in DBA Cockpit.
  • However, when running sp_dbextend simulate to test, get the result below saying DB was altered by total size '0M'.

1> exec sp_dbextend 'simulate', <dbname>, 'default', '5'
2> go
NO REAL WORK WILL BE DONE. Simulate database / device expansion in a dry-run mode 5 time(s).
These are the series of database/device expansions that would have happened if the threshold on database '<dbname>', segment 'default'were to fire 5 time(s).

Threshold fires: Iteration: 1.
================================
Threshold action procedure 'sp_dbxt_extend_db' fired in db '<dbname>' on segment 'default'. Space left: 65536 logical pages ('1024M').
Database '<dbname>' was altered by total size '0M' for segment 'default'.

  • Checking the output of sp_dbextend 'list', get some output like below.

1> sp_dbextend 'list', 'database', '<dbname>'
2> go
name segment item value status
-------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------ --------
server-wide (n/a) (n/a) (n/a) enabled
