Symptom

  • A create clustered index is run on a table with 20 partitions (round-robin)
     
  • During the index create a Signal 11 occurs followed by a stack trace 
     
    Current process (0x3170317) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
    Address 0x0000000100457328 (pipe_default_grabbuf+0xe4), siginfo (code, address) = (51, 0x0000000000000008)
  • The stack trace shows the following modules: 

pipe_default_grabbuf
pipe_bufgrab_func
pipe_grabbuf
psort__insrow
psort__dolscanptn
psort__dolscan

  • A spinlock is held open by the user at the time of the signal 11
