2568585 - Remote connections used by SAP to investigate issues in Analysis for Office

Symptom

This document explains the necessary connections for remote access that SAP Support team needs in order to investigate issues related to Analysis for Office tool.

Environment

SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office

Resolution

When opening a case related to SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office (component BI-RA-AO), the connections below may be requested by SAP in order to further investigate the issue/scenario:

  • SAP NI Connection (SAP Note 1718597)
  • R/3 Support (SAP Note 812732) 
  • R/3 Support with SNC/SSO (SAP Note 2562127)
  • HTTP-based Tools (SAP Note 2056686 and 1787981) 
  • HTTP Connect - URLAccess (SAP Note 592085)
  • HTTP Connect w. SNC/SSO (SAP Note 2562154)
  • WTS connection (SAP Note 605795)

The user and password must be provided in the Customer Remote Logon Depot as described in KBA 1773689.
Note in case of Firefighter: SAP is not able to connect from AO to a customer's BW system using Firefighter user. It is necessary to provide a direct user with the necessary authorizations to reproduce the issue in AO.

The necessary connections may be different depending on the scenarios below:

Issue occurs when connected to a BW system:

  • SAP NI Connection (SAP Note 1718597) - Necessary to connect to customer's system from AO
  • R/3 Support (SAP Note 812732) - Necessary to connect to customer's system from SAP Logon

Issue occurs when connected directly to HANA in AO 2.x version:

  • HTTP-based Tools (SAP Note 2056686 and 1787981) - Necessary to connect to customer's system from AO

BOE / BI platform is involved on the scenario:

  • HTTP Connect - URLAccess (SAP Note 592085)  -> OBS: The URL of the BI platform must be set

Issue occurring when scheduling Analysis workbooks in BI platform:

  • HTTP Connect - URLAccess (SAP Note 592085)  -> OBS: The URL of the BI platform must be set
  • WTS connection to the BOE server where the AO BIP ADD-ON is installed (SAP Note 605795)

Issue occurs on a specific machine:

  • WTS connection to the affected machine (SAP Note 605795)
  • + The necessary connections above depending on the scenario.
