2570564 - Not Able to Assign Product Specification to Multiple Products

You have created a product specification with Id XYZ which is already mapped to a product with Id ABC. You are trying to create a new product specification XYZ, but assigned to a different product with Id PQR.

ByD Systems, valid for all versions.

1. Go to Planning and Production Master Data work center.
2. Navigate to the Product Specifications view.
3. Select the New button and choose the option Product Specifications.
4. In the field Product ID, enter the product with Id PQR.
5. In the field Product Specification ID, enter the Id XYZ.

System displays the following error message: Product specification ID XYZ already exists; enter a unique ID

You will not be able to create a product specification with the same Id, if the product specification Id is already created for another product in the Planning and Production Master Data work center.

The scenarios when we see the same product specification assigned to multiple products is provided below.

1. In transactional documents, like sales orders if you have created the product specification without a product mapped to it. If you have not entered product Id in Step 4 of Reproducing the Issue section.
2. In Production scenarios when the input products have their Identified Stock Type value as Mandatory Specified Stock or Optional Specified Stock, the product specification
   assigned to your output product will automatically get assigned to them in production orders and production tasks.

The system is working as designed.
