2571923 - Account or Opportunity Converted from Lead Shows Blank Owner Field

Symptom

An Account/Opportunity is being created from a Lead and the Account Owner appears blank. It is expected to see the Account/Opportunity Owner as the Lead Owner.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales work center.
  2. Select the Leads view.
  3. Open Lead ABC (where ABC stands as ID of the Lead).
  4. Click in Actions button.
  5. Select Convert to Opportunity/Account.
  6. The Opportunity/Account Owner field is not filled with the Owner from Lead.

Cause

The system does not consider that the Lead Owner will be the Account/Opportunity Owner.

Resolution

This is the system standard behavior. However it is possible, as a workaround, to create a Workflow Rule to achieve the desired behavior.

For this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Administration work center.
  2. Select the Workflow Rules view.
  3. Click in the New button.
  4. Fill in a description.
  5. Select Business Object dropdown menu as 'Account'.
  6. Select Timing dropdown menu as 'On every Save'.
  7. Click in Next button.
  8. Click in Add Group button and fill in information as below:
    1.PNG
  9. Click in OK button.
  10. On the line of the created condition, click in the green '+' button named Add Condition. Fill the information as below:
    2.PNG
  11. Click in OK button.
  12. Click in the Next button.
  13. In the Rule Type dropdown menu, select 'Action'.
  14. In the Select Action dropdown menu, select 'Assign Me as Owner'.
  15. Click in the Next button.
  16. Click in Activate Button.
  17. Click in the Finish button.

Then, in order to determine the Owner of manually created Accounts from Accounts WoC, please perform the following:

  1. Go to Administrator > Workflow Rules
  2. Click new and create with:
    • Business Object = Account
    • Timing = On Create Only
    • Conditions = no conditions
    • Action = Assign ME as Owner
  3. Save

Those two Workflow Rules in place are needed because, the condition Before Object Change only works for rules with "On Every Save" timing, as for "On Create Only" there will be no before scenario to be compared if the object is just being created.

Manually created Accounts have no before scenario to compare and hence needs a new Workflow Rule without conditions to fulfill this scenario and determine the Owner as well.
