2574693 - Error in Message Monitor: Message Overview data provider not found

When opening the Message Monitor, the following error occurs:

Message Overview data provider not found. Please make sure that the application com.sap.xi.mdt2 is started on the Adapter Engine. 

In the defaultTrace files the following exception can be seen:

Can't find MessageOverviewBean in JNDI look-up. Bean not registered. Details: javax.naming.NamingException: Error occurs while the EJB Scheme Context Factory trying to resolve an EJB with scheme ejb:/appName=sap.com/com.sap.xi.mdt2, jarName=com_sap.xpi.mdt.afmetadata.jar, beanName=MessageOverviewBean, interfaceName=com.sap.aii.mdt.server.statistics.MessageOverviewLocal.
