2574922 - ERROR - Flexeraal3: .../dataserver (Text file busy) occurs during upgrading SAP ASE

Symptom

  • While upgrading an SAP ASE server, get the error below after the installation.
  • In ASE_Suite.log
    Custom Action:    com.sybase.ia.common.InstallMergeModuleStatus
                              Status: FATAL ERROR
                              Additional Notes: FATAL ERROR -     class com.sybase.ia.common.InstallMergeModuleStatus FatalInstallException: Adaptive Server Enterprise: FAILED. 
                              See log file /opt/ase/log/ase.log for detail.
  • In ase.log:

  Install File:          /xxx/xxx/./ASE-16_0/bin/dataserver
                            Status: ERROR
                            Additional Notes: ERROR - Flexeraal3: /xxx/xxx/./ASE-16_0/bin/dataserver (Text file busy)

  Install File:          /xxx/xxx/./ASE-16_0/bin/backupserver
                            Status: ERROR
                            Additional Notes: ERROR - Flexeraak1: /xxx/xxx/./ASE-16_0/bin/backupserver (error 26 - Text file busy)

  Install File:          /xxx/xxx/./ASE-16_0/bin/xpserver
                            Status: ERROR
                            Additional Notes: ERROR - Flexeraak8: /xxx/xxx/./ASE-16_0/bin/xpserver (error 26 - Text file busy)

  Install File:          /xxx/xxx/./ASE-16_0/bin/jsagent
                            Status: ERROR
                            Additional Notes: ERROR - Flexeraak1: /xxx/xxx/./ASE-16_0/bin/jsagent (error 26 - Text file busy)
