2577893 - LMS: User unable to access catalog

Symptom

When user tries to search for an item through the Browse all courses link, they are getting a java error:

Request processing failed; nested exception is java.lang.RuntimeException: com.plateausystems.elms.framework.fulltextsearch.api.TokenizingServiceException: No locale could be derived for the current tokenization operation!

Reproducing the Issue

1. Login to LMS

2. Click the link for Browse all courses

3. Just type in a random search text and hit Enter

4. The error will pop up. (Full error message is attached)

java.lang.RuntimeException: com.plateausystems.elms.framework.fulltextsearch.api.TokenizingServiceException: No locale could be derived for the current tokenization operation!

Cause

The cause of this issue is due to the mismatch on locale setup for the user in LMS versus the one setup on the Catalog search

Resolution

First check what is the user's preferred locale in LMS by following the steps below:

1. Login as an admin

2. Go to Users > search for the user in question, edit it

3. Under Related click the More link

4. Go to Preference tab. Here please take a note of the Locale for the user

The user may change the setting on the catalog search by themseleves or you may change it by doing a Proxy. Follow the steps below to correct the issue

1. Login to the system

2. Click on the Browse all courses link

3. On the search page, click on the Language & Currency

4. Change the Primary dropdown to the locale that is setup for the user on LMS. In this case, change it to English (English)and click OK.
