Symptom
- We are creating one time deduction for employees which are going for approval. Noticed that if the approver does not have edit authorization for pay component, final approver cannot approve.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Cause
Non-recurring(Spot Bonus/ payComponentNonRecurring) and recurring payments (payComponentRecurring) logic is coded in software and configured in Succession Data Model.
Deductions portlet feature is configured in MDF object (Metadata Framework technology is used). It's not configured in Succession Data Model.
Resolution
Deduction workflow's last/final approver require, edit permission on the pay component to be able to approve the workflow. This is an system designed behavior.
This permission is not required for compensation information portlet. Compensation information is part of core feature and Deductions portlet is based on Metadata Framework (MDF object). Hence, pay component edit permission is required for the deductions workflow final approvers as they will create the object/change the object.
