2579834 - Line Item in Rate Table returns 0 and artificially brings down the cost

Symptom

  • SAP Transportation Management Carrier Selection and Charge Calculation
  • You are doing carrier ranking and calculating charges for carriers to pick the carrier with the lowest cost.
  • For a particular line item, the Rate Table associated with that carrier returns 0 because the carrier cannot carry that item.
  • As a result, the overall cost for that carrier is artificially lowered because no rate is calculated for that item but it is for other carriers.
  • In the end the wrong carrier may be chosen due to miscalulated charges.
