2582320 - How to Add Note in People Profile

The users can add notes when ''Permission to Create Notes' (under General User Permission section) checked. Now, we have two ways to add notes. One is create 'Notes' block on Employee Profile page and add notes, the other is get 'Add Note' from 'Take Action'. There are some different behaviors on UI page. But both them can save the new note successfully and correctly.

Add Note from Take Action

Scenario 1: Add note on login user's self Employee File page

Login in with 'admin', select 'My Employee File' page to show, and this user has the permission to create notes. Click 'Take Action'→'Add Notes', then you can 'Add Viewer',  add herself 'Emily Clark' and another user 'Build Test', input the title and comment. At last, click 'Submit' to save this new note.

After save the new note successfully, it will show on the 'Notes' block. We will find the viewer just show 'You'(because user 'Build Test'  has no permission and remove duplicate viewer added)

Scenario 2: Add note on other user's Employee File page which jump to from Login user.

After login in with 'admin', jump to another user 'Build Test' from People Picker and select  'My Employee File' page of 'Build Test' user. And then Click 'Take Action'→'Add Notes', then you can 'Add Viewer',  add herself 'Emily Clark' and another user 'Build Test', input the title and comment. At last, click 'Submit' to save this new note.

Save this note successfully and the behavior same with scenario 1 case.

Add Note from Notes Block

Scenario 1: Add note on login user's self Employee File page

Login in with 'admin', select 'My Employee File' page to show, then view 'Notes' block, and click 'Add Note' button.  Also click 'Add Viewer',  add herself 'Emily Clark' and another user 'Build Test', input the title and comment. At last, click 'Submit' to save this new note. This behavior will the same with 'Add Note from Take Action'.

Scenario 2: Add note on other user's Employee File page which jump to from Login user.

After login in with 'admin', jump to another user 'Build Test' from People Picker and select  'My Employee File' page of 'Build Test' user, then find 'Notes' block and click 'Add Note' button, add herself 'Emily Clark' and another user 'Build Test'. But it will throw warning message because this viewer 'Build Test' has no permission, this is the expected behavior, but it different with add note from 'Take Action'. Although, the end result is correct and save new note successfully.

add viewer 'Build Test':

Select this user 'Build Test' to add as viewer, it will throw below warning message(garbled letter already resolved in b1708)

The result of add new note are correct and successful
