2584973 - Publishing of private version to public version behavior in SAP Analytics Cloud

The behavior of publishing a private version to a public version is not clear in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

When publishing a private version back to the public version it was copied from, the system only updates values that were actually changed in the private version. If nothing was changed in the private version then nothing will be updated in the public version. Once you publish the private version, it will be removed from the Version Management panel.

Please use the following steps to create a full copy of a public version using a private version:

1. Copy the public version (i.e. Forecast) to a private version.
2. Publish this private version to a public version i.e. ForecastBackup.
3. Change / modify the original version i.e. Forecast.
4. To restore the ForecastBackup public version to the original (changed) public version Forecast, perform the following:
1. Copy ForecastBackup to a private version (i.e. "temp").
2. Save this private version and choose the original version "Forecast" as the version to save it to.
3. Then you will see the dialog.
4. Choose "Update All Data" to fully restore the version Forecast (from step 1).
5. The private version is removed and is no longer available in the Version Management panel.
