2589706 - "You have selected an Item that cannot be scheduled. Items must be classified as Instructor-Led or Instructor-Led with Online Content to be scheduled"

Symptom

Creating a class from an item classified as "Other".

Environment

SAP SucessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Learning Administration >
  2. Navigate through Learning Activities > 
  3. Go to Classes >
  4. Click "Add New" >
  5. Select an item ID with the "Other" classification >
  6. The error "You have selected an Item that cannot be scheduled. Items must be classified as Instructor-Led or Instructor-Led with Online Content to be scheduled" will be encountered.

Cause

Classes cannot be created directly via this method for an item with the "Other" classification.

Resolution

At least one time slot must be added to the item, so the "Schedule" option will be available under the "Actions" menu.

Once this option is made available, a class can be created and the item classification will be automatically changed to "Instructor-Led".

To do this via the UI:

  1. Open the item record >
  2. Under the "Agenda Template" section, click "Add Time Slot" (if this is not available, you might not have the needed permission or the "Agenda Template" tab is not shown) >
  3. Click the "Add Time Slot" >
  4. Populate the required fields and save >
  5. The "Schedule" option will now be available under the "Actions" menu and you may create a class from there.

Since the item classification will be automatically changed to "Instructor-Led", you can create a class via:

  1. Learning Administration >
  2. Navigate through Learning Activities > 
  3. Go to Classes >
  4. Click "Add New" >
  5. Proceed with the class creation.
