Cause

This issue is caused due to lack of RBP permissions or delay in MDF Data Model refresh. In order to sync the new changes as and when a certain feature with dependency on MDF is enabled, run the MDF Object Definition to DB Sync job.

Resolution

In order to fix this, first you need to ensure the affected user has all required RBP permissions below:

Intelligent Service Tools

  • Intelligent Services Center (ISC)

Admin Center Permissions

  • Read Execution Manager Events

Metadata Framework

  • Configure Business Rules
  • Configure Object Definitions
  • Import Permission on Metadata Framework
  • Admin access to MDF OData API

In case the issue persists, you will need to contact an Implementation Partner or SAP Cloud Product Support team. The resolution requires a Sync procedure to be performed on the MDF framework with the database.

For Partners and SAP Cloud Product Support:

This only solve the following Splunk errors:

  • java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method com.successfactors.genericobject.api.model.ObjectDefinition.getId() of a null object loaded from local variable 'objectDefinition'
  • org.odata4j.exceptions.NotFoundException: Entity ISEFlow is not found. Please contact your system administrator.
  • Non admin user is NOT allowed to query pending data

If those are found on the logs, please run sync job to resolve this issue:

  1. Login into provisioning
  2. Go to Manage Scheduled Jobs page
  3. Click create new job button
  4. Select MDF Object Definition To DB SYNC from dropdown. Select valid user name and provide some job name.
  5. Click create job button
  6. Click run it now button on action tab
  7. Once the job is completed, go to Provisioning
  8. Under MDF Cache Tool, click Clear cache
  9. Clear MDF cache

Note: starting with 2H 2022 Release, customers have also the possibility to directly re-run this job from the Admin Center (prerequisite is that is was previously created at least once from Provisioning).

  1. On Admin Center, go to Scheduled Job Manager
  2. Click on the tab Job Scheduler
  3. On Job Type, select MDF Object Definition to DB Sync
  4. On Actions, you can click on Run it Now (you will need correct RBP permission, see FAQ below for the pre-requisite)

Note: Users can only directly run this job using "Run It Now" option, it is not possible to schedule this job to a future date.

For customers:

To clear the Metadata Cache:

  1. Go to Admin Center
  2. OData API Metadata Refresh and Export
  3. Refresh Metadata Cache
