2590730 - Database dump fails with i/o read call failed for database device - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • A database dump returns i/o read or readfile fail:

    Backup Server: 4.145.2.22: [107]
    Error for database/archive device while working on stripe device '<dump device>'.
    The i/o ReadFile call failed for device <dump_device_name> at offset 3407872 for size 0 bytes. Operating system error message: Incorrect function

    Backup Server: 4.145.2.22    : [107]
    Error for database/archive device while working on stripe device '<dump device>'.
    The i/o read call failed for device <database_device_name> at offset 123456 for size 4096 bytes. Operating system error message: Input/output error
  • Error 8009 is also reported

    Msg 8009, Level 16, State 1:
    Server '<server_name>', Line 1:
    Error encountered by Backup Server.  Please refer to Backup Server messages for details.
