2591821 - Error Messages: "Technical Error RPMF_MESSAGE 13" and "Technical Error RPPM 063"

Symptom

Following error occurs when trying to release a Production Model,:

  • Creation of released planning model not possible
  • Create RPMs (number 1)
  • Technical error RPMF_MESSAGE 13; report an case
  • Technical error RPPM 063; report an case
  • Save failed

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Planning and Production Master Data Work Center.
  2. Go to Production Models View.
  3. Show All Production Models and find the relevant Production Model ID.
  4. Select and Edit it.
  5. Choose Released Production Model -> For Planning and Execution, then the mentioned error would occur.

Cause

Case 1

Unit of measure (UoM) for one or more of the BoM Input Products are missing. 

Case 2

The Planning UoM and one of the BoM input product UoM differs. There is no quantity conversion maintained in the relevant product master data.

Case 3

The input quantity is missing for one or more products in the relevant Production BoM which is assigned to the Production Model.

Case 4

The Site for which the Production Model is created for is not maintained in the Logistics or Planning tab of one or more BoM input products.

Case 5

Quantity and UoM for a By-product is not maintained in the Production Model.

Resolution

Case 1

To maintain the UoM:

  1. Go to Product Portfolio work center.
  2. Go to Products view.
  3. Show All Products and find the relevant Product ID.
  4. Edit and View All.
  5. Under General tab, maintain the Base UoM and ensure the UoM same as the Planning UoM and Inventory Valuation UoM.

Case 2

To maintain Quantity Conversion for an input product between Planning unit of measure and one of the BoM input product Unit of measure, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Product Portfolio Workcenter.
  2. Go to Products view.
  3. Show All Products and find relevant Product ID.
  4. Edit and View All.
  5. Under General tab, maintain Quantity Conversion between Planning UoM and Bill of Material UoM for a relevant input product.

Case 3

Either remove the unnecessary input product, or increase the quantity of the input product.

To increase the quantity of the Product XYZ, follow below steps: 

  1. Go to the Planning and Production Master Data work center.
  2. Select the Production Bills of Material view.
  3. Search for the Bill of Materials ID and select Edit button.
  4. Navigate to Input Products page.
  5. Select the corresponding Line Item and uncheck the Variants checkboxes for the Input Product with zero quantity.
  6. To change the Line Item with the Product of zero quantity, you have to create a new Engineering Change Order (ECO) for this Input Product. You can also use an existing ECO with the status: In Process.
  7. Choose the Change option and you will see a new Line Item is added.
  8. Change the quantity of the product XYZ from 0 to XX quantity.
  9. Click the Save button.
  10. Select the new Line Item and click the ECO button and then select Complete action.
  11. Assign this new Line Item to the Variants of the BoM (check the variant checkbox).
  12. Check the consistency of the BoM and select Save button.

Case 4

In the relevant product master data, Logistics or Planning tab, maintain the site as Active.

Case 5

The error should be fixed once we provide the Quantity and Unit of Measure for the By-Products in the production Model.

  1. Go to Planning and Production Master data Work Center.
  2. Go to Production Models View.
  3. Search and open Production Model DEF.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. Navigate to Bill of Operations tab.
  6. Navigate to sub tab Product Assignment.
  7. Find for a By-Product in any of the Produce Activity and select the activity.
  8. Navigate to tab By-Products
  9. Maintain the Quantity and Unit of Measure for the By-Products.
