2594840 - Subject to Position Control Field on Position Object - Employee Central

Symptom

This Knowledge Base Article describes the Subject to Position Control field.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Position Management

Resolution

The Subject to Position Control helps to control the FTE capacity of a position. If a position is subject to position control, the FTE values of all incumbents assigned to the position may not be higher than the FTE value assigned to the position. The system checks this when:

  • A new employee is hired;
  • The manager assigns a new position to an employee or changes the FTE of an employee on the Update Employee Records screen;
  • The FTE value of the assigned position is changed;
  • The system searches for a suitable position when a position transfer or position reclassification is required.

This check is done dependent on Position Management Settings and on whether or not Position Control is defined.

To change the Subject to Position Control, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Manage Positions;
  2. Select "Position" in the first field and the referred position in the second one;
  3. Once the position opens, click on Take Action > Make a Correction;
  4. Change "Subject to Position Control" to Yes or No, depending on your requirement.
