Symptom

When you login system and select one language environment, you find there are several characters “^” shown at the beginning and the end of some fields.

Reproducing the Issue

Propaedeutics:

You have already created related language adaptations to translate some fields to target language.

Step1

Login system and select the language environment.
You find under the current specific language environment, there are several characters “^” shown at the beginning and the end of some fields.

Step2

Go to Administrator work center.
Navigate to Language Adaptations.
Open the adaptation ID of the target language.
Open the UI TEXTS tab.
Find the Target Text shown with characters “^” at the beginning and the end of each word.

Cause

The characters “^” are created by pressing the “Simulate Translation” button followed by a Save.

Resolution

Go to Administrator work center.
Navigate to Language Adaptations.
Open the adaptation ID of the target language.

In order to remove the special characters, there are several methods that you can follow:

Delete the entire text pool.
Press “Clear Target Texts” button to remove all entries from the target text columns. Please note that this will clear all target texts, regardless of having characters “^” or not.
Download the texts into an Excel, remove the characters “^” and upload it again. Note that you can’t upload texts that are not the in text pool. This means that all text-ID’s that are in the Excel need to be in the text pool as well. Violations will lead to an error. But one can upload only parts of the text pool, no need to upload always the entire text pool.
