2597350 - "Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine" when running disk unmirror - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE is running in process mode.  
  • The configuration setting, 'number of engines at startup' s less than 'max online engines'.
  • When running the 'disk unmirror' command, the ASE errorlog will display the message "Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine". 
  • The message is raised as many times as the difference between 'max online engines' and 'actual running engines'. For example:

virtual device 8 started using asynchronous (with DIRECTIO) I/O
Closing the primary device for virtual device test
Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine
Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine
Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine
Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine
Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine
Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine
Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine
Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine
Attempt to push affinity to a non-existent engine
The new primary device is now /ASE/data/testmirror.dat
