Symptom
While migrating fixed assets, the field to enter the fixed asset ID in the migration template is missing.
Environment
SAP Business Bydesign.
Reproducing the Issue
-
Go to Business Configuration work center.
- Overview > Show > Activities and search for Prepare for Data Migration and click on it.
- Select Download migration templates.
- Search for Fixed Assets or Fixed Assets (extended) and click on Download and open the template.
Inventory ID instead of Fixed Asset ID to enter is seen.
Cause
The entry under Inventory ID is automatically assigned to the fixed asset, which allows to uniquely identify a physical object in an inventory especially for legacy assets with an existing ID in the source system. Enter the unique alphanumeric number used to identify the fixed asset.
Resolution
For the Fixed Asset IDs, the prefix 00 is assigned to each predefined fixed asset class. This means that the first fixed asset is assigned the number: 1, the next 2, and so on.
If different number ranges for each fixed asset class is needed, then it can be adjusted via the Number Range. For example, for the number 10000000001, enter 01 in the Number Range.
So, based on asset class that needs to be assigned in the template and the number range which is set, the fixed asset ID will be assigned by the system automatically to the chosen range in this setting.
