2599115 - Freight in a Sales Order is Not Considered for the Profit Margin

Symptom

A Sales Order (e.g., Sales Order ID ABC) is created with Freight added as a Price Component. It is expected that Freight will be included in the Profit Margin calculation. However, the Profit Margin does not account for Freight.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Sales Orders work center and navigate to View Sales Orders.
  2. Open Sales Order ABC.
  3. Go to the Tab Pricing and Invoicing.
  4. Expand all sections under this tab.
  5. Observe that Freight is included in Total Value of the Sales Order pricing but is not factored into the Profit Margin for each Item.

Cause

Expected System Behaviour. Freight is not considered to be part of the Profit Margin Calculation.

Resolution

To include Freight in the Profit Margin, use an Extension Field to perform additional calculations. This can be achieved through a PDI (Partner Development Infrastructure) Solution, which allows customization of the Profit Margin calculation to account for Freight.
