2604327 - Cannot Set a Location as Obsolete

You would like to set the Location XXX as obsolete. There is a Logistics Area under the Location XXX which you already set as Obsolete, however you face error messages when trying to do it for the location as Obsolete.

 XXX = Location ID.

SAP Business ByDesign.

1. Go to Supply Chain Design Master Data work center.
2. Select Locations view.
3. Search for the Location XXX.
4. Open the Location XXX.
5. Select View All.
6. Select Change Status.
7. Choose Set to Obsolete.

The errors appear:

Update not possible; location already referenced as site
Operation not possible; location is assigned to organizational center

When you create a Logistics Area under the Location, a link between the Business Residence and the Location XXX is created, which is mandatory. Hence making the site as obsolete is not possible until the Org. Structure is active.

As a workaround you can block the Location XXX following the steps:

1. Go to Supply Chain Design Master Data work center.
2. Select Locations view.
3. Search for the Location XXX.
4. Open the Location XXX.
5. Select View All.
6. Select Change Status.
7. Choose Block.
8. Select Save.
