2606972 - Data Sources Cannot be Combined

Symptom

You want to combine two Data Sources. After adding one Data Source to the New Combined Data Source window, the second one is not available to add.

Environment

  • SAP Business ByDesign
  • SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Business Analytics work center.
  2. Go to the Design Data sources view.
  3. Click New.
  4. Select Combined Data Source.
  5. Click Add Data Source.
  6. Add a Data Source eg: Opportunity Item.
  7. Click Ok.
  8. Click Add Data Source.
  9. Add Data Source eg: Promotions.

You are not able to find the Data source Promotions.

Cause

Data source Combination is possible only when access context of one of the data source completely overlap the other. Access contexts are visible on the Design Data Sources view. The data source Promotions has access context 2012 Employee and Territory where the 2012 Employee access Context is not available for Opportunity item Data source. Hence the combination between these two data sources is not possible as there is no complete overlap of the access contexts. For instance a data source with access context A and B can be combined with a data source with access context A, B and C where you have a complete overlap of access context. The same Data source with access context A and B cannot be combined with another data source which has access context B and C while there is only a partial overlap of access context.

Resolution

In such cases where two data sources do not have a complete overlap of access context please join the two Data sources.
