Symptom
Cannot enable or put a check for "Enable Drill to Detail" option in the EXCLUDE permission within Tree Security
Environment
Production/Preview - Workforce planning and Analytics tool
Reproducing the Issue
Step 1: Log in to WFA on Hana and select Admin.
Step 2: Select Roles Maintenance
Step 3: Select Edit under the Tree Security
Step 4: Select a group > Restricted > Edit Access
Step 5: Select "Add New" for EXCLUDE
Step 6: "Enable Drill to Detail" cannot be checked
Cause
The ability to Drill to detail is controlled by the nature of the cube from which the values are shown and these are aggregations of the underlying data. To be able to Drill to detail you must have access to the lowest level of data in the tree. This means that DTD (Drill to Detail) is only available if you have an Open Ended Tree security rule. The drill to detail query does not apply its own security (it just uses the constraints of the current data point), so DTD is not possible with an exclude rule.
Resolution
Drill to Detail is only applicable for INCLUDE permissions within tree security.
