Symptom

While starting NetWeaver Portal java fails to start with the following errors:

dev_deployment
java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to get the length of a null array loaded from local variable 'jarFiles'
at com.sap.engine.offline.OfflineToolStart.getClassPath(OfflineToolStart.java:304)
at com.sap.engine.offline.OfflineToolStart.main(OfflineToolStart.java:106)
ERROR => SfEStartupError: SfCSapVm::callMainMethod: : Cannot call method: static void com/sap/engine/offline/OfflineToolStart.main(String[]) [sfxxjvm.hpp 1409]
ERROR => Java thread failed: SfEStartupError: : Cannot call method: static void com/sap/engine/offline/OfflineToolStart.main(String[])
