Symptom
You are trying to create multiple branches for one bank in the Bank Directory. Although you can add multiple branches on the Assigned Branches tab, you are not able to add multiple National Bank Codes to the same National Bank Code Type in order to represent these multiple branches.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign.
Reproducing the Issue
-
Go to Liquidity Management work center.
- Go to Bank Directory sub view.
- Edit the concerned entry.
- Under the National Bank Code section, click on Add Row button.
- Add two different National Bank Codes, however with the same National Bank Code Type.
The system will display an error message as follows: XXX: Only one national bank code per national bank code type permitted.
(XXX represents your bank)
Cause
The SAP Business ByDesign system has to work with multiple countries with different criteria for Bank relationships.
In some countries, branches have always the same national and international (SWIFT/BIC) identifications as the master institute. In other countries, only the national identifications can be different and the international code is the same. In further countries the national identifications are the same and international ID can be different and last, in some countries the national as well as the international ID can be different. Therefore, it is expected that the system is not allowing the creation of a second National Bank Code for the same National Bank Code Type.
Resolution
The National Bank Code Type is entered automatically after you select the bank country. However, in certain cases, you may enter the National Bank Code and National Bank Code Type manually. For some countries, banks use many national bank codes and bank code types. Thus it is possible to manually enter the National Bank Code and Bank Code Type for banks in those countries.
The national bank code details are used to identify the bank directory entry and you can maintain multiple national bank code details for a single bank directory entry. However, you cannot enter more than one National Bank Code for the same National Bank Code Type, in the same Bank Directory. In case you wish to create a second branch and add more than one National Bank Code for the same National Bank Code Type, it will be necessary to create another bank directory entry with the desired National Bank Code.
