Symptom
Is it possible to set Termination Date by a business rule during termination of a user?
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
Resolution
The Termination Date field requires a manual entry to ensure precision and is not configurable via business rules. This is how it works:
- The Termination Date is a crucial field in the termination UI with unique logic associated with it, which makes it to be required as the first field you interact with during the termination process.
- When you input a value for the Termination Date, the page refreshes automatically. This refresh sets default dates for other related fields and displays the relevant event reasons.
- It also loads the list of Direct Reports and Job Relationships for the user being terminated.
- This dynamic interaction and data update mechanism is why we cannot use a business rule to modify the Termination Date based on changes to other fields.
- The system requires the user or admin executing the termination to manually enter the Termination Date to ensure accuracy in reporting relationships as of that date.
- Since Termination Date is positioned as the first field in the termination UI, applying an onChange rule to this field using another field would not be feasible or logical.
- Currently, there are no plans to alter this functionality, as manually entering the Termination Date is integral to maintaining the integrity of the termination process and related data updates.
