Symptom
The following fields are calculated when job classification, position, company, location, department or pay scale level are changed: Time in Job, Time in Position, Time in Company, Time in Department, Time in Pay Scale Level.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- In Job Information, enable the base field and one time in field, like Company Entry Date and Time In Company.
- Upon checking job information portlet, see that different values appear in latest and legacy people profile.
Cause
The time in calculations are approximated in legacy people profile, but accurate in Full (Latest) People Profile.
Resolution
The values are displayed as per calendar days in Full People Profile.
In Legacy People Profiles, these values have an approximate value, as highlighted in the guide: The TimeIn calculation determines the number of years/months/days an employee has worked on a job, position, company, location, department, or pay scale level. This calculation is based on approximate values, because not all months have the same number of days. These values are transient and not saved to the database.
