2613216 - IDT fails to start with error: The InformationDesignTool executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library

Symptom

  • Information Design Tool (IDT) fails to start, the following error is seen on startup:
    The InformationDesignTool executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library

  • In the installation logs (at <BOBJINSTALLDIR>\InstallData\logs), there are two InstallDU log files indicating failure:
    InstallDU-dsl.informationdesigntool-4.0-core-nu,14.2.5.2618.log
    InstallDU-dsl.transmgr_unx-4.0-core-nu,14.2.5.2618.log

  • The following errors are seen inside these logs
    Product: dsl.informationdesigntool-4.0-core-nu -- Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Information Design Tool\plugins\tp.rsa.crypto. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.

    Product: dsl.transmgr_unx-4.0-core-nu -- Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\TransMgr\plugins\tp.rsa.crypto. The installation cannot continue.
