2613454 - You are not Able to Modify the ID of a Supplier

Symptom

You are trying to modify the ID of an existing Supplier in the system. However, the Supplier ID field is greyed out and the ID cannot be modified.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign all systems.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Supplier Base work center.
  2. Select the Suppliers view.
  3. Show All Suppliers.
  4. Find ABC (ABC represents the ID of the relevant Supplier).
  5. Click Edit - General.

You can see that the Supplier ID field is greyed out and therefore the ID cannot be modified.

Cause

This is expected system behaviour. Once a new Supplier is saved, the ID cannot be modified.

Resolution

The Supplier created with the wrong ID needs to be marked as Obsolete and then a new Supplier has to be created with the correct ID.

  1. Go to Supplier Base work center.
  2. Select the Suppliers view.
  3. Show All Suppliers.
  4. Find ABC (ABC represents the ID of the relevant Supplier).
  5. Click Change Status.
  6. Select Obsolete from the drop-down menu.
  7. Click Save.

Now create the Supplier again with the correct ID.
