2614062 - Custom Email Notification for Document Generation Template is not Working - Employee Central

When trying to to send a custom email notification to CC recipients, a standard template is sent with the following error message:

"There is an error in the document generation template configuration. Please correct the document generation template TEMPLATE_NAME to receive the document generation template emails."

• SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

The error message in the email may occur due to the following reasons:

1. The template is not available for the recipient’s locale.
   • Example: If the recipient’s locale is set to Japanese and the document template does not include Japanese, the error will appear.
2. The template does not contain placeholders or has no mapping template defined.
3. There's a placeholder with a rule assigned to set it's date format.
   • Example: Change the date format from 08/21//2025 to August 21, 2025.

• Solution 1: create a template with the locale being used. 
• Solution 2: 
  • Create a placeholder in the template and define the required mapping.
  • Generate the email and perform a test.
    • If the email is received correctly, proceed to step 3.
  • Decide whether to keep the placeholder and mapping for future use, or delete the mapping and then remove the placeholder.
  • Test again after the adjustment.
    • The custom email should continue to work after applying the above changes.
• Solution 3: It's not supported to use rules to change the date format when using the template in the notifications context. Rules like the one explained in this KBA 3632459 - Business rule to change the date format in document generation template as today's date - SAP for Me are only applicable when you generate a document on employee profile.
