Symptom
When initiating the background check for a candidate, the following error is received: 'Unable to initiate background check. Error occured while executing integration center process.'
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Select a candidate from 'Background Check' status
- Take Action > Initiate Background Check
- Error will occur: 'Unable to initiate background check. Error occured while executing integration center process.'
Cause
- Insufficient user permissions.

Integration configuration issue.
Resolution
To view detailed error messages, go to Integration Center > Monitor Integrations and check the event log.
Common errors and solutions:
1. Error: Recruiting OData API xxx permission in Admin Center is not enabled.
Grant the following permissions to the affected user:
- Recruiting Permissions > OData API Application Export
- Recruiting Permissions > OData API Application Create
- Recruiting Permissions > OData API Application Update
- Recruiting Permissions > OData API Candidate Export
2. Error: Server url not defined for this integration.
Grant the following permission to the affected user:
- Manage Integration Tools > Allow users to execute “Application/UI” or “Event-based” Integrations
How to report a background check integration issue:
If further support is required, please raise a Support ticket to SuccessFactors Recruiting (Component: LOD-SF-RCM-BCI) with the following information:
- Company ID
- Support access
- Proxy as (Affected user)
- Steps to reproduce the error, including the Job Req ID and the sample candidate name
- Integration job name (Integration Center > My Integrations)
- Event log of the last failed run (Integration Center > Monitor Integrations)
