Symptom

  • SAP IQ server aborts with st_server.cxx caught signal 8 
     *** SAP IQ Abort:

  • Aborting stacktrace calls:
    SA_Fatal
    DB_Fatal
    DatabaseFile::write_error
    DatabaseFile::group_write_ex
    DatabaseFile::group_write
    LogBuffer::flush()
    RedoLog::flush
    DB_Commit_Chgs(Connection*)
    ri_commit(Connection*)
    Connection::commit_work()

  • Attempting to write a stack trace may fail with disk space full type errors appearing in the stderr file 
    sh: stktrc-20180311-180052_1.iq: cannot create [No space left on device]

  • The SAP IQ srv server log may also contain errors indicating problems writing to disk
    A write failed with error code: (28), No space left on device

  • Recovery restart attempt failed with s_blockmap.cxx abort with message TEMPORARY blockmap still owns dirty pages
