Symptom
Ad hoc Goods Movement for Product DEF (DEF represents the Product ID) is performed from Source Logistics Area PQR (Restriction set with Storage Group - XY) to Target Logistics Area XYZ (Restriction set with Storage group - PQ), although the Destination Logistics Area has a different Storage group.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
-
Go to the Internal Logistics work Center.
- In Common tasks, select Goods Movement.
- Fill in all fields like Source Logistics Area ID, Product ID, Target Logistics Area ID etc.
- Finish creating the Goods Movement.
- You can observe that the Product ABC allowed to move from Logistics Area PQR (restricted to Storage Group - XY) to Destination Logistics Area: XYZ (restricted to storage group - PQ), although Material - ABC is assigned with different Storage Group - PQ.
Cause
Currently the restrictions on the Logistics Area like Uniformity, Storage Constrains (Storage Group, Product) etc. are checked via the Source and Destination Determination (SDD) Validation Engine.
SDD validations are triggered only for execution related objects like Warehouse Tasks (Inbound, Outbound & Internal) and Production Supply Task.
For an ad hoc Process like Goods Movement, SDD Validations are not triggered. However the basic restrictions like Status of Logistics Area are checked in Goods Movement.
Resolution
For ad hoc Process like Goods Movement SDD Validation are not triggered. However the basic restrictions like Status of Logistics Area are checked in Goods Movement. This is the standard behavior as designed as per the current functionality
