Symptom
- 2 ASE servers running on VCS(Veritas Cluster Services) in a failover pair
- Each server has a physical hostname and ip-address
- Each host has a virtual/floating hostname and ip-address
- ASE dataserver and backupserver's interface contains the floating hostname/ip-addess entries
- Dump fails with following error messages
Msg 7205, Level 17, State 2:
Server 'servername', Line 1:
Can't open a connection to site 'SYB_BACKUP'. See the error log file in the ASE boot directory.
Msg 7205, Level 18, State 3:
Server 'servername', Line 1:
Can't open a connection to site 'SYB_BACKUP'. See the error log file in the ASE boot directory.
Msg 3220, Level 17, State 1:
Server 'servername', Line 1:
Could not establish communication with Backup Server 'SYB_BACKUP'. Please make sure that there is an entry in Sysservers for this server, and that the correct server is running.
