Symptom

  • The online database command fails with errors 12512 and 12542
  • When using standby_access clause:

    online database <database_name> for standby_access
    go

    ... (truncated for clarity)
    Completed ANALYSIS pass for database '<database_name>'.

    Msg 12512, Level 16, State 1:
    Server 'SAP SYBASE', Line 1:
    Database '<database_name>' (dbid YY): has incomplete transactions. ONLINE DATABASE FOR STANDBY_ACCESS cannot be completed successfully.

    Msg 12542, Level 16, State 1:
    Server 'SAP SYBASE', Line 1:
    Load the next transaction log in the load sequence, or use ONLINE DATABASE with no options to end the load sequence.
    ASE could not bring database '<database_name>' online.
