Symptom
- Database Backups issued via EMC's Networker Module for SAP ASE are failing with the following message:
Backup Server: 4.124.2.1: Archive API error for device='<device_name>::<db_name_temp_directory>..4.1.<temp_file.txt::000': Vendor application name=EMC, Library version=200, API routine=syb_write(), Message=Cancel signal was detected. Stopping the database backup process.

Backup Server: 4.124.2.1: Archive API error for device='<device_name>::<db_name_temp_directory>..4.1.<temp_file.txt::000': Vendor application name=EMC, Library version=200, API routine=syb_write(), Message=Cancel signal was detected. Stopping the database backup process.

D00: SYBMULTBUF ERROR: Emulator interprocess communication failed with error state = 9, error code=0, system message=Pipe I/O returned 0 bytes.
- The backups are issued remotely with two SAP ASE database servers sharing one backup server
- There are a number of databases hence multiple backups are issued concurrently and result in backups waiting
- The databases backup jobs were divided into two groups
-
On job is dedicated to the largest database
-
The other job handles all of the smaller databases
