2623152 - Changes in Job Information for Contingent Worker is changing the position - Employee Central

Symptom

  •  Customer is changing fields like Department and Cost Center in job information for a Contingent Worker, but as soon as the record is saved, a new position is being assigned to the employee.

Environment

  •  SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - All Versions

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to a Contingent Worker profile;
  2. In Job Information portlet, select the edit pencil;
  3. Change any field like Department and Cost Center and save;
  4. The system changed the position of the employee.

Cause

  • Expected behavior: Follow-Up Activity in Position is configured in the Event Reason. 
  • By default, the system first searches for an existing position with status To Be Hired below the new manager's position. If it finds one, it assigns the employee to this position.

    If the system doesn’t find a suitable position, it creates a new position below the new manager's position and assigns the employee to this position. Note that the position left behind doesn't get status To Be Hired and the new position is created without the status To Be Hired.

Resolution

  1.  Go to Admin Center;
  2.  Search for Manage Organization, Pay and Job Structure;
  3.  Select Event Reason and select the event that triggered the change in the position;
  4.  Change the Follow-Up Activity to No Selection, otherwise it will be expected that the system updates a new position.
