Symptom
A Logistics Area Count Task XXX (XXX represents the Count Task ID) needs to be canceled so that it will not impact inventory. How to do this?
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the work center Physical Inventory.
- Go to the Monitoring view and then select: By PI Count Document sub-view.
- Find and select the Count Document YYY (YYY represents the Physical Inventory count Document ID).
- Click the Edit button.
- Go to the Count Tasks tab.
- There is no option to cancel or delete it.
Cause
It is now allowed to directly delete or cancel a Count Task even though it has the status 'Not Started'.
Resolution
If Task is in 'Not Started' status, then directly delete the corresponding physical inventory document. To do so:
- Go to the Physical Inventory work center.
- Select the Monitoring view and the By PI Count Document sub-view.
- Search and select the relevant PI Count Document ID YYY.
- Choose Delete button. This will delete the PI Count Document as well as the Count Task.
Note 1: Just finishing the count task does not update the inventory. Inventory is updated once you Approve the logistics area count items. So, always Reject the PI Count Document even if the count task is finished, and then it will not update the inventory. To do so:
- Go to the Physical Inventory work center.
- Select the Monitoring view and then select 'By PI Count Document' sub-view.
- Search and select the relevant PI Count Document ID YYY.
- Choose Edit button.
- In the new screen, go to the Count Items tab.
- Select all Line Items using Shift key and then choose the Reject Count Item button.
Note 2: If some Tasks are already processed, it is not possible to delete the PI Count Document. Hence, in this case, first confirm the open Tasks with zero Quantities. Then from the corresponding count document, Reject the relevant Count Items.
