• Netweaver and SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) installation fails with error

  Assertion failed: Unable to work with the database script nwpreload.
  
  

• Sapinst_dev.log reports the following error

  syb_isql_pipe: DISK INIT encountered an error while attempting to open/create the physical file for device   '/sybase/<SID>/saplog_1/<SID>_log_001.dat'. 
  
  

• The ASE error log reports the error
  
  warning: 'disk init' command with 'skip_alloc' option turned on for device "/sybase/<SID>/sapdata_1/<SID>_data_001.dat", does not ensure allocation of the specified number of pages.
  
  kernel  dcreate: insufficient space on device '/sybase/<SID>/saplog_1/<SID>_log_001.dat'.
