2625435 - SWPM Installation Error: System History Update Failure for Java - SAP ASE for BS

Symptom

  • SAP Netweaver and SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) installation fails with the error:

    An error occurred updating the system history for Java, see output of logfile '/tmp/<sapinst_directory>/$'  

  • Sapinst_dev.log reports:

    TRACE      2025-12-22 06:47:36.654 (root/sapinst) (startInstallation) [SLPGuiEngine.cpp:214] SLPGuiEngine::showMessageBoxHandleButtonImpl()
    Hard disk size exceeded for location /sybase/<SID>(requires additional 342 GB). Do you want to continue with the installation anyway?

  • ASE error log reports:

    kernel  dcreate: insufficient space on device '/sybase/<SID>/sapdata_1/<SID>_data_001.dat'.
    kernel  dcreate: insufficient space on device '/sybase/<SID>/saplog_1/<SID>_log_001.dat'.
