An SAP work process fails with a runtime error DBSQL_SQL_ERROR

SQL error "SQL code: 0" occurred while accessing table "<view name>"

In the SAP system log, SM21, the following errors can be seen

Database error 0 with UPD access to table <view name>

Runtime error "DBSQL_SQL_ERROR" occurred.

In the OS joblog of the failing work process, the following error codes can be seen

CPF9898 - IMINPUT: Looping error - Fail Query]]].
CPF4204 - Interner Fehler im Abfrageprozessor.
 
SQL0901 -SQL-Systemfehler. Database: Database error 0 with UPD access to table <view name>
