2628990 - Error Message : Currency Missing occurs when you create a New Opportunity


When you are creating a new Opportunity after adding the Account you get the error message: Currency Missing, even though you have maintained currency in the Account master data.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to New Business Workcenter.
  2. Click on New Opportunity from Common Tasks.
  3. In the New Opportunity screen, add the Account XXX(XXX is the Account ID).
  4. After the Account is added, the error message: Currency Missing appears on the screen.


Even though you have maintained the currency in the Account master data but it is in combination with the Sales Org/Sales Unit. The determination of the sales unit in the document could be the issue. In the Fine-Tuning Activity, search for activity Opportunities, select Maintain Involved Parties and then select row 'Sales Unit' and then select the 'maintain determinations' to check what determination rule has been set. The system will check for each rule in the determination, if the determination is failed then no Sales Unit is not determined and Currency is also not determined, leading to the error about the currency.


You can maintain work distribution rule in Sales Unit for Sales under Business Area: Sales and Marketing in Organizational Management Workcenter or You can maintain the party role Employee Responsible-Sales in Account master data, by navigating to Contacts Tab and Responsibilities Sub Tab in the Account master data.
