Symptom
This article describes a feature limitation for manage templates. This limitation happens just for job requisition templates in Recruiting.
When publishing or saving as draft any change to job requisition templates the system keeps the Saving message in the upper right corner and the Field Permissions Defined turns in Red:
When checking the permissions defined in the template an error message is shown:
"There are errors. Check the main page for more details. And if there are sections below, check them for any field level error." or/and "'Field Permission Role Name' is a required field. Please provide a value."
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Manage Templates;
- Open a job requisition template;
- Try to make any change and hit Save or Publish as Draft;
- Page keeps the save message in the upper right corner;
- Open the Field Permissions Defined and check the message.
Cause
This is due to a limitation in the Manage Template feature. When configuring a block permission to a role that is allowed in recruiting but is not selectable in this tool, it is not able to validate the role.
The image below shows one example that causes this issue:
As shown, this block of permission is granting write permissions to the OM role. Since OM is not part of the available roles in the dropdown, the tool does not allow the user to save the changes.
This behaviour will happen every time the user tries to configure a permission block for a role that is not presented in the manage template tool as J, OM, OH, etc. (Please note this applies to all derived roles in recruiting)
This feature allows you to configure permissions just for the most common roles, the ones displayed in the dropdown as shown below:
This configuration is supported by RCM module when configuring directly in the xml template:
Resolution
If you are seeing this behaviour, and you need to make any change to your template, you will need to work with your implementation partner or SAP professional services and request the necessary alterations. It will be done directly in the XML template.
Our product management team is working on an implementation code in order to allow this feature to support this kind of role. We will keep this document updated with the news we have from the product management team.
An Internal enhancement request has been raised to change this behaviour. Please provide your CSM with the following reference number: RCM-44162 who will be able to follow up on this on your behalf.
