1. Go to General Ledger work center.
2. Select Open and Close Periods
3. Select a period and open the period

1. Go to General Ledger work center.
2. Companies view.
3. Select Company XYZ.
4. Select Actions -> Set Addtional Entry Days.

If this date is set to some indefinite number(e.g. 9.999.999) then it causes the issue.

Example: The automatically generated entries in process control allow for 15 additional entry days after the last posting date. So, when you open a new fiscal year, the process control will automtically get created for this year and the entry possible until date is (usually) 15 days after the last posting date in the accounting period.

You need to maintain a new entry for the Set Addtional Entry Days and change it to default 15 days or any other number of days which you expect to allow the posting after the end date of a closed period. Once its done, period can be opened
