Symptom
You are using SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer(C4C), and integrate it with other SAP business suite like SAP ERP/CRM/S4H. For the incoming & outgoing communications in C4C, you might notice various message status in its Web Service Message Monitoring, and want to know their meanings and the appropriate ways to handle them.

Resolution
The Web Service Message Monitoring tool in the Administrator center allows you to monitor and process asynchronous/synchronous incoming and outgoing messages as a system.
Bear in mind that erroneous Synchronous messages are displayed in this tool by default, while successful synchronous messages can only be displayed after you activate A2X trace in this monitoring tool. The retention period for both is 30mins.

Restart
If a message could not be processed due to temporary issues, for example, locked data or missing master data, click Restart to restart the message communication after you have corrected the error. If the error cannot be corrected, you can cancel the message.
Synchronous messages can only be restarted from the sender system.
Cancel
It is to stop the processing of a message.
You can only cancel messages with the status Application Error or System Error. Application errors are due to invalid or missing data, whereas system errors are due to configuration or integration issues.
You can’t resend a canceled message. A canceled message is permanently canceled. In such a case, a new transmission needs to be initiated.
