2635991 - Program direct links for program section do not always navigate to the program section

Symptom

A direct link generated in Learning administration to link to a specific section within a program sometimes navigates the user to the program cover/overview page.

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Logon to Learning administration >
  2. Navigate to System Administration >
  3. System Management Tools >
  4. Generate Direct Link >
  5. Create a Program Details Link for a program that contains sections >
  6. Select a Program Section >
  7. Click Display Link >
  8. Use the generated link to access the program section >
  9. Note the following behavior:
    1. If Cover pages are active: Users will be taken to the cover page and they can access the content by navigating to the content section for which the direct link was created.
    2. If Cover pages are inactive: Users will be taken to the content section for which the direct link was created.

Cause

  • When the program has an active cover page, the direct link navigates the user to the current page.
  • If you go to content tab, you will see the system expand the exact section that the direct link is created.
  • Also note that the navigation between cover pages and the agenda pages are sticky, meaning the system remembers where you left off of the program.

Resolution

If it is needed for users to access sections directly via the URL, consider deactivating the program cover page (test in sub-production first):

  1. Logon to Learning administration >
  2. Navigate to Learning Activities >
  3. Programs >
  4. Search for the program in question >
  5. Click the "Cover Page (Active)" hyperlink >
    ProgramActiveLink.jpg

  6. Click the "Deactivate" button >
    ProgramDeactivateButton.jpg

  7. Save your changes.

Additional Notes:

  • A cover page is a user-facing overview page you create for your program.
  • You can choose from one of 3 layouts and add images, videos, HTML, or any other information you like to your cover page.
  • If the cover page is active, users can see it when they view the program details.
