Symptom
Starting an SAP Service SAP<SID>_<inst. nr.> you receive a pop-up:
Windows could not start the SAP<SID>_<inst. nr.> service on Local Computer
Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure
or
Windows could not start the SAP<SID>_<inst. nr> service on Local Computer
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.
In the last case you can check that the error match to a logon failure checking errors in event viewer logs similar to one of the following:
Cannot open Profile usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/profile/<start or instance profile>. (Error 1326 ERROR_LOGON_FAILURE: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.) [ntservstart.cpp 1051]
The SAP<SID>_<inst.nr> service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not start due to a logon failure.
The SAP<SID>_<inst.nr> service was unable to log on as <domain>\SAPService<SID> with the currently configured password due to the following error:
The user name or password is incorrect.
In case of too much logon failures this error can also be found:
Cannot open Profile usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/profile/<start or instance profile>.. (Error 1909 ERROR_ACCOUNT_LOCKED_OUT: The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to.)
