2636570 - How to change the access mode of Value Help in input-ready cells

Symptom

This document describes how to change the Access Mode of the Value Help in input-ready cells.

Environment

SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office

Resolution

When opening the Value Help in an input-ready cell in Analysis for Office, the access mode depends on the value of setting InputReadyCellsValueHelpMemberAccessMode (check setting "InputReadyCellsValueHelpMemberAccessMode" in Admin Guide for more information).

This setting is empty by default, which means that Analysis Office will try to use the access mode P ("Planning" = Only values for characteristic combination).

It is possible to enter the following values for the setting InputReadyCellsValueHelpMemberAccessMode:

MASTER_DATA (or M) It will use the Member Access Mode "Master Data" (values in Master Data Table).
DIMENSION_TABLE (or D) It will use the Member Access Mode "Dimension Table" (only values from the Info Provider).
BOOKED_VALUES (or Q) It will use the Member Access Mode "Booked Values" (only posted values for navigation).
PLANNING (or P) It will use the Member Access Mode "Planning" (Only values for characteristic combination).

DEFAULT

 It will use the Member Access Mode defined in BW Modeling Tool or Query Designer. See details below.

Note that the value DEFAULT is not the same as leaving the field empty, and they result in different read-modes as shown below:

When using the value "DEFAULT":

  • If BW system is lower than 750 (only Query Designer available), Analysis Office will try to use the Member Access Mode defined in the Query Designer.
  • If BW system is higher than 750 with BW Modeling Tool capability, Analysis Office will try to use the Member Access Mode defined in "Value Help for New Lines" setting shown below:

There are also known bugs fixed on backend system and AO client. Please implement Note 2535023  and Note 2541583 to fix the issue of BW Modeling Tool. And install AO 2.6 SP3 to fix the issue of Note 2627986.
